Jumpstart to Learning!

Learning is meant to be enjoyable. When learning becomes boring, children lose interest. When learning becomes confusing, children get frustrated. It is up to the educational program and the child's family to work together to find the right learning situation to make learning fun again!

Welcome to Jumpstart!

This program is designed for the student who missed the cut-off date for Kindergarten, or parents who are looking for extra supplements for their almost Kinder child. My philosophy is to utilize central themes to introduce curriculum content. The themes will interconnect math, beginning reading skills, language arts, social studies, science and art under a common umbrella (theme). Each month will be a different theme adding content substance to curriculum goals. This gives the student a foundation for what they are learning by connecting real life concepts with learning goals and objectives.

The monthly themes are:

• SEPTEMBER: ALL ABOUT ME
• OCTOBER: FALL
• NOVEMBER: THANKSGIVING/NUTRITION
• DECEMBER: HOLIDAYS AND CELEBRATIONS
• JANUARY: WINTER
• FEBRUARY: COMMUNITY HELPERS
• MARCH: SPRING
• APRIL: RAIN FOREST
• MAY: INSECTS
• JUNE: OCEAN

Within each theme there are related categories. For example, September is All About Me which includes subtopics of My Friends, My Family, Myself, and My Feelings .  This structure of introducing curriculum allows your child to relate what they are learning in class with their real-life experiences, thus anchoring new knowledge with familiar ideas.
